Donna Harris, a proud native Detroiter and President of NorthStar Community Development Corporation has helped to redefine a new business model for neighborhood growth and stabilization. As a result, NorthStar a non profit housing developer has constructed 206 units of affordable housing. This leverages a reinvestment of nearly $35 million in neighborhoods in Detroit including: leadership development, economic equity, financial literacy, affordable housing, tax foreclosure intervention, small business incubation, job development, and presently, public health research.
Additionally, she is favored to host the radio show “A Community Perspective “ on WCHB AM/1340 with Public Health Advisor, Dr. Kent Key, Michigan State University. This weekly program features guest that offer insight and resources appropriate to the strengthening of families. Ms. Harris truly believes “If people knew better… they may do better.”
